Farewell Neville and Lester, Welcome Jeremy
2020 marks the end of service for two highly respected members of the LEA Board of Directors, Dr Neville Highett and Mr Lester Saegenschnitter.
Dr Highett retired from his role in June after over eight years of gracious service to the board, four of which were as Chairperson. His experience as principal of Immanuel College Novar Gardens SA, his international standing in educational leadership and expertise as a school accreditation and governance reviewer, brought special insight to matters before the board. With thanksgiving, Lutheran education has enjoyed and appreciated Dr Highett’s pursuit of leadership excellence and Christian faith and service.
Mr Lester Saegenschnitter concluded his three-year service to the LEA Board in November 2020. Before his time on the Board, Lester served on the council of Lutheran Education SA, NT and WA, including for two years as Chair. Lester’s departure marks forty-five years of service to Lutheran schools, working in three Australian states and in many roles, including as principal at Concordia College Highgate SA. Lester’s wisdom and heart for the Christian mission of Lutheran schools has been ever-present in his work as has been his deep affection for the school community he served.
In September 2020, Lutheran Education Australia welcomed Mr Jeremy Smith to the Board of Directors. Jeremy brings to the board his passion for technology and theology, having worked as a computer programmer in Brisbane before moving to Adelaide to study in the pastoral stream at ALC. Jeremy is eager to serve the students, teachers, families, and communities of Lutheran schools in Australia by supporting them in their role in the mission of the church.
