Ms Jill Lange-Mohr OAM has been appointed Chair of the Board for Lutheran Education Australia (BLEA).
As a former boarding student at Concordia College in Toowoomba, Jill’s embrace and confident sharing of her faith shaped her path as an educator within Lutheran schools.
Jill began her career as a teacher at Grace Lutheran College, Rothwell in Queensland. Her teaching areas have included Secondary Arts, Speech and Drama, and Geography. After seven years of teaching in a range of schools, including Nightcliff High School in Darwin and Downlands College in Toowoomba, she moved into the corporate sector in private tertiary education, specifically in marketing, public relations and as a principal. Jill was the recipient of the 2001 Queensland Telstra ‘Businesswoman of the Year’ award for the Private and Corporate sector and later completed her MBA in 2012.
From 1997 to 2001, Jill served on the St Peters Lutheran College Queensland council, contributing her rich experience and corporate business skills for the benefit of the St Peters’ community. Her role on the Lutheran Laypeople’s League Board from 2005 to 2015 was instrumental in fostering relationships between the LLL and Lutheran schools across Australia.
In 2007, Jill undertook the challenging role of founding Principal at St Peters Lutheran College, Springfield, Queensland. Over the next decade, the college grew to become a preferred choice in the Springfield area, offering excellent learning opportunities from Early Learning to Year 12.
Transitioning to Geelong Lutheran College as Head of College, Jill played a crucial role in making the college a leading institution in the greater Geelong area over five and a half years. In January 2023, Geelong Lutheran College and St John’s Lutheran School amalgamated into one college with two campuses.
In 2020, Jill received an Order of Australia Medal in the Australia Day Honours list for her significant contribution and service to education.
